About Telehealth

What is telehealth?

Telehealth allows clients to complete their sessions with their providers through audio and video over the internet. If you are interested in telehealth, please make sure you call your insurance to confirm this service is covered under your plan and if your provider is eligible to provide the service.

Why should I try telehealth?

We are following CDC recommendations in light of concerns with COVID-19, which means that we want to encourage our clients to practice social distancing and minimize their exposure to the public. It also means no waiting and travel time, so you won’t have to take time off work or other priorities.

How much will it cost?

While most insurance plans are allowing telehealth visits in response to COVID-19 concerns, we still encourage you to call your insurance to confirm this service is covered under your plan and if your provider is eligible to provide the service. The cost for a video session will vary depending on the coverage you have with your insurance provider.

How does telehealth work and what do I need?

You will need a smartphone, computer, or tablet with internet access and camera and audio capabilities.
You will need to sign a telehealth consent form prior to receiving telehealth services. You can complete the form electronically here

Your provider will email you a link for the video session. Click on it when our session is scheduled to start.  Your provider may use Doxy.me to complete the session. Doxy.me is a free, HIPAA compliant online platform that is easy to use.

How do I use Doxy.me?

As a client, no account is required! From the home page, you can press ‘Get Started’ and all you need to do is enter the link that the provider gives you. Visit the doxy.me page here.

How do I use Zoom?

Before joining a Zoom meeting on a computer or mobile device, you can download the Zoom app from https://zoom.us/ Otherwise, you will be prompted to download and install Zoom when you click a join link

How do I use Signal?

Ask your provider if you can message them securely using the Signal app. Signal is a free app that allows you to make calls and send text messages securely. For more information or to download signal, click here.

Important Etiquette To  Follow When Participating in Telehealth

If at any time, any of these guidelines are not being followed, the therapist may end the session in your best interest. You and your therapist will reschedule the appointment when these guidelines can be kept. Remember we are your partner and sometimes we must help set boundaries for your safety.

  • When participating in telehealth, you must be in a private, confidential place where you feel secure enough to engage in therapy.
  • You must be fully clothed in appropriate attire. Please be comfortable but appropriate.
  • You must not be driving or in a vehicle with others. 
  • You must not have other people present unless it has been discussed beforehand and there is a clear reason for that person to be participating in your therapy session.
  • The telehealth consent for must be signed for anyone participating in Telehealth sessions. Get the form HERE. 
  • If someone will be participating in your telehealth session, you must fill out a release of information for that person. 
  • You should have a way to reconnect if your internet becomes unstable or goes down during the session. A plan for how to proceed in case of technical difficulties will be discussed with your therapist. Usually, this will be phone contact to end the session.

If any of these criteria cannot be met, the session cannot proceed. Thank you for your cooperation in providing you the best possible care.
