Does MFCC provide psychological evaluations?
We do not psychological services. Our mental health providers complete a psychosocial evaluation during the initial appointment. Psychosocial evaluations provide information about multiple aspects of a person’s life including their mental, physical, emotional, and social health. Evaluations are usually administered using a variety of open-ended questions touching on an individual’s personal and social life, significant stressors and changes, present social supports, medical history, symptoms the individual is experiencing, and more.
Psychosocial evaluations are meant to give a big-picture view of a client’s life so that a treatment plan and goals can be created. They also give clients an opportunity to discuss what they expect from treatment and how they see themselves progressing throughout the process.
Psychological Testing
Psychological testing is used to measure certain behaviors, such as the frequency or severity of a person’s anxiety or depression. They can also be used to gain more understanding behind an individual’s behaviors and beliefs. Psychological tests require training before being administered to ensure proper and effective use.

What are the differences between a therapist, psychologist, and psychiatrist?
Therapists (LISW, LMHC, LMFT)
Therapists usually specialize in a field such as social work, mental health, or marriage and family, allowing them to better serve their clients. Therapists can diagnose clients, utilize assessments for further testing of an individual’s state of health, and use a variety of therapeutic theories and interventions to treat problems.

Psychologists

Psychiatrists
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who work with both mental and physical aspects of psychological issues.
Services provided by psychiatrists:
- Diagnosis
- Prescribe medication
- Administer medical tests
- Administer psychological tests

What are the costs for services?
We accept most major insurance plans including Wellmark BCBS, Optum/UHC, UnityPoint Health Partners, and Medicaid Plans.
Check with your insurance plan to make sure your provider is an in-network provider and to verify your coverage and out of pocket costs.
Some services may not be covered by insurance.
