Kristen received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University. She moved on to complete her Master of Social Work through the University of Iowa and has been practicing as an Independent Licensed Social worker since 2013. Kristen has over ten years’ experience working with Individuals, families and children who are navigating the child welfare system. She is sensitive to the needs of parents and families as they heal emotional injuries and rebuild a sense of confidence and connectedness to their community. Kristen has a passion working with at-risk woman and teens presenting with co-occurring diagnosis.
Kristen is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a therapy designed to help individuals overcome past negative experiences and traumas. Kristen also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Kristen incorporates her passion for physical health and wellness into the therapeutic process. Kristen believes that true healing comes when an individual is willing to address both the emotional and physical barriers to living a fulfilling life.
