Kenya Rocha MS, LMHC, NCC Certified EMDR Therapist Approved EMDR Consultant Kenya Rocha is a licensed mental health counselor. Kenya earned a double bachelors degree in psychology and human services from Upper Iowa University. She completed her Masters of Education and Community Counseling from Drake University. Kenya is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR therapist, an Approved EMDR Consultant and EMDR Basic Trainer as well as for special populations. Kenya is an NBCC Nationally Certified Counselor and recently held a certification as a CCE Approved Clinical Supervisor. Kenya enjoys being a part of the learning process for new clinicians and EMDR talents. Kenya is committed to providing excellence in service provision for clients and education for clinicians.
Kenya is the owner of MOSAIC FAMILY Counseling Center Inc., and strives to provide an atmosphere where clinicians and clients alike will feel at home and be inspired to reach their full potential and happiness.
Kenya has worked in the Des Moines community for over 28 years where she continues in private practice, providing services to families, children, couples and individual adults. Kenya is fluent in Spanish and English and provides treatment to many Latino individuals. She has worked in many communities with different culturally diverse populations and is committed to cultural responsiveness in her treatment of clients. Kenya is a member of EMDRIA, American Counseling Association, Iowa Mental Health Counseling Association and the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
As an EMDR therapist Kenya has a strong commitment to treating trauma in individuals or families and believes fully, that healing can occur in every situation. Kenya believes that negative emotional consequences of adverse experiences can be changed and become adaptive with treatment.
Kenya has experience as a foster parent and has worked with children and families in the child welfare system for the past 20 years. Kenya also provides education on parenting foster children for the local foster and adoptive parenting association. Kenya consults with different businesses to provide education on wellness and balance in today's stressful way of life and provides clinical services to professionals to help with vicarious stresses and promote well being for their practices.
Kenya has proven effectiveness in utilzing the following approaches in the context of the therapeutic relationship; EMDR, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, solution focused, interpersonal and humanistic approaches, while being committed to cultural responsiveness.
Kenya utilizes the client's strengths and provides practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. Kenya integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach, tailored to the needs of each client with compassion and understanding. Kenya believes in meeting each client where they want to begin their journey and walking with them to reach their personal potential.
As the Executive Director, Kenya also provides supervision for those working toward independent licensure. Kenya believes that every new clinician needs a place to practice their art, shape their theoretical experience and expand their abilities in a fun, safe and constructive environment.
