Insurance and Other Forms of Payment

Insurance can be frustrating and Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan if you don't know much about it.  Please call your insurance company to check your coverage by asking the following questions:
  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met for the current year?
  • Do I have a copay or coinsurance that I have to pay at every appointment?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session and what am I responsible for?
  • Is prior approval required from my insurance company?

All out of pocket/deductible/co-insurance and co-payments are due at time of service. Please come prepared to make this payment. With all the changes and variations in plan types of insurance and the amount of deductibles and co-pays, it is difficult for our office to always know what your benefits are. In most cases we can submit insurance claims on your behalf but, it is important that you understand your benefits and how to manage them. The cost of service is ultimately the responsibility of the client. We will receive an explanation of benefits from your insurance company. We will provide you a statement of your balance. It is your responsibility to pay for your portion and the insurance portion if they deny the claim.

Please check your insurance company's website to find a provider and learn about your benefits. You can also call the customer service number on the back of your card to get complete details about your insurance benefits, co-pays, deductibles and how they work. It is best that you call your insurance provider to make sure you understand the limits of your benefits.

There are some services Insurance may not cover, such as Couples counseling, supervised visitation or other services.

We will do our best to help you with knowing your benefits when you schedule your initial visit. However, it is your responsibility to pay for the services if your insurance denies the service provided.
